Introduction

This two-day, instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills that are needed to manage Microsoft Windows XP Professional computers in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 environment. Additional information for Windows 2000 is also included explaining how it differs from Windows XP Professional.

This course will satisfy the requisite information that is needed to help students prepare for either Exam 70-210: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Exam 70-270: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional, assuming that the student is either experienced with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or has successfully completed courses 2274, 2275 (or 2273), 2276, and 2277.

Module 1: Installing Windows XP Professional

In this module, students will learn how to prepare for and install Windows XP Professional.

Module 2: Adding Hardware to Windows XP Professional Clients

This module teaches students how to install new hardware devices as well as how to configure and maintain existing devices and their drivers. Students will also learn how to roll device drivers back to a previous version of the driver and to uninstall drivers and devices.

This module provides students with the knowledge and skills that are necessary to identify and correct problems with the Windows XP Professional boot process.

In this module, students will learn how to configure and customize user desktops, use profiles to implement and enforce desktop customization policies, and use Remote Assistance to respond to remote requests for help.
