Achieve your next career step - benchmark your online training skills with this worldwide recognised trainer certification!
This online workshop will equip you with the experience, knowledge and skills required in the massively growing arena of virtual classroom training. It complements the conventional classroom-based course:
Synchronous learning environments such as those from Adobe, Cisco, Citrix and Microsoft vastly increase the reach and convenience of training events however they also present challenges over traditional classroom instruction that require the trainer to adopt appropriate strategies.
An effective instructor in a traditional classroom makes use of obvious and subtle social cues and nuances to ensure participant engagement. These are reduced or entirely missing in the online environment and need to be compensated for by utilising a higher frequency of appropriate language and technological techniques including:
You’ll cover the whole envelope of online technical training engagements as described by CompTIA’s Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) Virtual Classroom Trainer designation. The in-depth knowledge, skills and experience gained will equip you to successfully facilitate professional online training and presentations.
During the workshop a 'Performance Assessment' (video) will be created in accordance with the learner's best effort regarding CompTIA's criteria. The synchronous learning environment utilised will be provided as part of the course and training is provided in its effective usage.
Recent classroom based CTT events have been provided for the following clients:
The CTT+ (formerly CTT) certificate is a cross-industry credential providing recognition that an instructor has attained a standard of excellence in the training industry. Assessment is via a computer based examination initially followed by a video submission. Once success has been attained in the examination, the delegate's video submission can be made along with the appropriate paperwork.
We provide a three day pubic scheduled instructor-led workshop, hosted by a highly experienced CTT+ and MCT trainer, which includes the production of the video in accordance with the CompTIA requirements. Some time prior to the course, we will discuss with you the possibilities of your presentation. This needs to be viable though we are very open to your choice of content. Previous delegates have chosen Creating a Webpage, Security Best Practice, Operating Systems, Vehicle Engine Technology and Formulae in Excel amongst many others. The workshop format quickly builds the delegate's experience and utilises CompTIA accredited courseware. Additionally we provide the necessary guidance to the CompTIA CTT+ certification process, helping you to approach the examination and related paperwork successfully.
Please note the course dates fill quickly and are strictly limited to SIX STUDENTS for public delivery courses to ensure absolute quality. This will give each learner the opportunity within the given time to work with a group representative of a commercial training event.
The first industry endorsement of the CTT+ was from the IT sector, however it is applicable to any that requires online technical training and education. We suggest that some experience in classroom or online facilitation would be helpful, however this is not an absolute requirement. Success in the CTT+ certification provides a springboard for any technical trainer.
After completing this course, students will be able to:
Before attending this course, students should have:
This course will help the student prepare for two CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer Examinations:
The 'Performance Assessment' video is produced during the course to the criteria stipulated in CompTIA's documentation.
The student kit contains these items:
During the above process, refinement of the delegate's individually chosen presentation to meet the CTT+ requirements takes place. Help is provided as necessary with the structuring of presentation, including the use of PowerPoint or similar and with the usage of appropriate media for the delivery.
The first domain describes two competencies. These encompass the knowledge and skills required to analyse the full requirements of a training event from all parties' perspectives and then to plan for and implement the event's learning environment and logistics.
The first of the twelve competencies entails planning and research by the trainer to ensure that the learning objectives of the learners and their organisations are entirely understood and can be met by the courseware, instructional technique and learning environment.
High level areas:
The second competency covers the logistics of the learning event ensuring that it is 'learner-centric'.
Key content areas:
The second domain describes two competencies. Good understanding and appropriate usage of the facilities provided by a virtual learning environment in regard to learning objectives and learning styles are key to instructional success.
The third competency is in regard to instructional methods appropriate to the instructional design and to adult-learning theory.
Key content areas:
The fourth competency is in regard to seamless instructional delivery.
Key content areas:

Key content areas:
The fourth domain describes four competencies. Delivery of training content requires an engaging, well structured and positive environment where the learners are comfortable and productive.
This, the seventh competency, includes the initial 'scene setting' by the instructor and includes the ideas of a narrative or pathway through the training to help the learner's sense the 'bigger picture' of the training as well understand where they are within the course delivery.
Key content areas:
The eighth competency incorporates the knowledge and skills necessary to involve all learners in the event. The instructor will utilise appropriate questioning strategies and system tools to encourage discussion amongst the participants to promote insight and understanding.
Key content areas:
This competency, the ninth, recognises that any learning environment and particularly one utilising a synchronous software platform requires continuous assessment of the learner's understanding. Naturally one that is positive, clear and encouraging allows learners to be certain that their ideas are relevant and that they can seek assurance and clarification as required.
Key content areas:
A learner-centric environment requires a positive and clear atmosphere where the learners are assured that their learning will be relevant. The tenth competency describes and ensures this approach.
Key content areas:
The fifth and final domain describes two competencies. These pertain to the monitoring of the learning environment and to the process of reporting and feedback for quality and contractual purposes.
This competency, the eleventh, covers the ideas of continuous assessment of the learners particularly during the learning session and then includes formal feedback strategies at the close of the session.
Key content areas:
The twelfth and final competency. Continuous analysis of instructional delivery leads to quality improvements. Client organisations may stipulate formal feedback as part of a training contract.
